Teacher Appreciation!
Erika gave me a suggestion for our blog topic today. Since it is Teacher Appreciation Week, she wants everyone to think about how much you should appreciate ALL teachers because they work so hard to teach us how to be a good person, a good learner, and a good citizen. Please write a top 10 list about what makes a good teacher. Thanks for the idea, Erika. Have fun with this post.

Happy Children’s Day!
It was brought to my attention that today is Kids Day, so Happy Children’s Day! In Mexico, it is celebrated on April 30th, but other countries celebrate it around June 1st. Hector told me that some of the traditions include parents giving gifts to their children to show their appreciation. Do you celebrate this holiday? If so, what are some traditions that happen during this special day? If not, what types of traditions would you like to see happen on Children’s Day?

Heroes
We have just read the expository non-fiction piece, called “Fire!” about firefighters. In our discussions, you have explained how people in this profession are heroes -always putting others first. Who are present day heroes in your life? Share your stories.
The Write Stuff…
We’ve really been focussing on the writing trait of organization. Many of you have shared your ideas, and have had peer conferences to help with editing and revision. Reread your pieces and tell me 3 things that you are doing well in your writing as well as 3 things that you need to improve on. What are your next steps? How will you make sure that you will help create a picture in your reader’s mind?
